On Wednesday Time magazine named President-elect Donald Trump as its Person of the Year 2016.
In a telephone interview on NBC’s Today show, “It’s a great honor. It means a lot,”said Donald Trump.
Nancy Gibbs, Magazine’s Managing Editor, said on the event that Democrat Hillary Clinton was the second finalist. Nancy said the choice of Donald Trump this year was “straightforward”.
On Time’s Website Nancy Gibbs wrote about the decision: For reminding America that demagoguery feeds on despair and that truth is only as powerful as the trust in those who speak it, for empowering a hidden electorate by mainstreaming its furies and live-streaming its fears, and for framing tomorrow’s political culture by demolishing yesterday’s, Donald Trump is TIME’s 2016 Person of the Year
