MCC World Cricket Committee has proposed new laws to make cricket remain a gentleman’s game. Cricket players will now be sent off the field for serious disciplinary breaches like physically assaulting a player, umpire, official or spectator. Threatening an umpire or any other act of violence will also be considered punishable.
Meanwhile, committee has also proposed to restrict the size of bat. Currently there are no standards for bat’s thickness hence various players uses a wide and thick bat providing them an unfair advantage. Committee recommended that bat should be 35mm to 45mm thick, they also added, it won’t affect the fireworks from the strong hitters.
These rules will apply on all levels of competition and is expected to come into effect by October ’17.
